Which Came First the Chicken or the Egg?

Did you know an ostrich egg can weigh as much as 8 lbs?

An Egg is Quiet by Dianna Aston and Sylvia Long is a beautifully illustrated picture book that can be used to teach children all about the animals that lay eggs. There are hundreds of different kinds of eggs, and this book shows many of them. It's incredible when you think about it. Something so simple as an egg. They could all just look the same but they vary in size, shape, texture and color. Some are just gorgeous.

I'm so glad to have found this video online which gives an alternative method of sharing stories with your children. Sometimes listening to them being read by someone else can be more exciting, and this version is actually animated making the book come alive for them. I'm all about imagination, but sometimes it's nice to see what we imagine become a reality.
