Bedtime Stories

Isn't it interesting how most children almost always put up a fight to go to bed while most adults
would give just about anything for a warm, cozy bed to crawl into at night or in the middle of the day! I struggle to remember the age at which this change occurred.
Consistent bedtime routines are important for children and reading to your child at bedtime can be a great bonding experience for you. Although choosing books for bedtime reading is usually done by the child and might not have anything to do with a calm, sweet story, there are dozens of stories focused on assisting your child into dreamland.

Down in the Woods at Sleepytime by Carole Lexa Schaefer. Suggested age 1+.

"Deep down in the woods, bear cubs are nestling, cozy in the leaves, baby hedgehogs are curling into tight warm balls, bunnies snuggle close to each other, and toadlets settle softly in the goo glup mud."

The Napping House by Audrey Wood, Illustrated by Don Wood is one of my favorites. It's over 25 years old, and the illustrations are soft and creative. My local library has a new edition with a CD enclosed which has the reading of the story and six additional songs. Suggested age 1+.

"There is a house, a napping house, where everyone is sleeping."

I could use a nap right about now! Will you read me one of these stories to get me to sleep?
Love you!
