Wearing Glasses

Glasses: Who Needs 'Em? by Lane Smith 1991

This is a book about a young boy who's eye doctor tells him he needs glasses. He's afraid he'll look like a "dork".

The doctor says, "Your mom wears glasses, your dad wears glasses, your sister wears glasses...what about famous inventors, or monster movie stunt people, hmmmm? Why even entire planets wear glasses!" And then it gets really silly.

I wear glasses now but didn't as a child. My husband got his first pair of glasses in either 2nd or 3rd grade, and in the 80's, they were almost as big as your face. Luckily now days they have all kinds of glasses for children that fit them much better and look much cuter.

This book is a light-hearted story and uses humor. Sometimes children just need the not-so-serious approach.
