From the Garden

From the Garden: A Counting Book about Growing Food by Michael Dahl, illustrated by Todd Ouren, 2004.

This is a great book to get out of the library for the spring/summertime especially if you have a garden of your own.

"Mama pulled ONE fat tomato from the garden today. Tony tugged TWO golden carrots from the garden today. Sarah scooped up THREE red cabbages from the garden today."

Your child can practice counting while learning about vegetables and finding hidden numbers in the illustrations! This book makes me hungry for veggies!

Maybe if you don't have a garden, you could visit a local farmer's market and have your child pick out veggies and then make a salad together or cook them up for dinner!

This sounds like a great lesson plan for Cyrus, and a great dinner for his daddy! ;)
