Caves and Caverns

If you are teaching science or your child loves science, Gail Gibbons, is your author/illustrator! Her books are fantastic!

"When a drop dries on the ceiling of a cave, it leaves a tiny bit of calcite crystal. Another drop follows. It leaves behind calcite crystal, too. Drop after drop, the calcite crystals collect in the same spot. These crystal build up to form a stone icicle called a stalactite."
Cave pearls, helictites, sinkholes, twilight zone, spelunca, and speleologist are just some of the terms your child will become familiar with while reading Caves and Caverns.
