Old Bear

One of the qualities of picture books that I really like is the visual aspect when it comes to seasonal content. The possibilities are limitless when it comes to language and illustrations in picture books.

Old Bear by Kevin Henkes is one of those feel-good books that enhances all of the best qualities of the seasons through illustrations. During hibernation through the cold winter months, Old Bear dreams about huge flowers in springtime,  daisy sunshine and blueberry rain in summertime, and orange, yellow and brown water in autumn, and then an ice-covered world in wintertime. When he wakes up, winter is over and springtime offers him a warm welcome.
