Cowboys and Cowgirls!

Cowboys and Cowgirls Yippee-Yay!” by Gail Gibbons

This is a fantastic find! This completely explains the American cowboy/cowgirl. Like many of Gibbons’ picture books, many of the pages have specific themes, diagrams and pictures with a running story line at the bottom of the page. It is a very interactive book.

An example of a diagram is a picture of a cowboy with his clothing labeled which includes a wide-brimmed hat, vest, bandanna, gloves, chaps, boots, and spurs.

“A cowboy’s clothing was chosen for rough wear and tear. Many cowboys wore the same clothes for months at a time. Some even slept in them! Smelly and caked in dirt, these clothes were often burned after a long cattle drive.”

The book reviews branding, trails, herding, roping, and more!
