Little Lost Tiger

Little Lost Tiger” by Jonathan London, 2012

Picture books can be a great way to expose children to rich poetic language even if they do not fully understand what it all means. It is important to occasionally expose children to language above their current level of understanding.

“As the winter sun sinks into the Siberian wilderness, the Striped One steps silently across the alder flats, certain of what she seeks. In her tracks bounces Amba like a huge, playful kitten. He is hungry.”

A forest fire separates mother and cub for a period of time, but as the fire dies down, the two are reunited.

The illustrations help capture the incredible beauty of the Siberian tigers and their habitat.
