Sunshine Makes the Seasons

"Sunshine Makes the Seasons" by Franklyn M. Branley is a Stage 2 Let's Read-and-Find-Out Science picture book.

This book explains the seasons by taking the reader through various experiments which involve a pencil, flashlight and an orange. The orange will represent the earth. Put the pencil through the orange and then demonstrate the rotation of the earth on the axis (pencil). Using the flashlight in the dark to shine on the orange will demonstrate day and night. Then it continues to give instructions to further demonstrate the seasons.

"During a year the length of our day changes. In winter the days are short. It may be dark by the time you get home from school. It is cold because we don't get many hours of sunshine."
