Your Skin Holds You In

"Your Skin Holds You In" by Becky Baines is a National Geographic Kids book written for young elementary age children. It reviews the different colors of skin, the three layers of skin, and how temperature changes the color of our skin.

It also reviews pores, freckles and hair and describes how our skin can heal itself.

This is a great introductory book for health in the elementary years.

Another great picture book about the skin is called "Your Skin and Mine" by Paul Showers. Both books are good choices. One of the biggest differences is that this book uses photographs of people and "Your Skin and Mine" uses illustrations of people. That is a good reason to read both books to give children a different perspective.
